Assignment 4: Be Able to Review Work on Completion of a Brief

My intentions were to create a website which was easily accessible for the familys and kids if ned be, i think i achieved this with easy headers with no sub pages so they could get lost in themselves whilst going through the site, The website was not designed to be a flashy, its purupose was to get  relevant infomation across to the familys. I think after changing the website designing program i have created a better overall product and more accessable than the one i would of created using iWeb, That web designer did not fully allow you to change every part of the template they gave you, i had a blue selection bar at the top which i was unable to change. With Wix.com this was made alot easier with more freedom in the editing besides not being able to use the same text so all the relevant infomation had to be printscreened and then pasted into the template in the posisition i wanted it instead of the normal way using text boxes which made the process a whole lot longer than it should of been. Throughout the desinging of the website all the relevant content was put into folders on my memory stick so that when i wanted to find infomation for a certain section i could just tap the infomation from it instead of having to search through my whole hardrive.

If i were to do the process again i would learn how to use adobe dreamweaver, which is the software that the professionals use to create websites so that i would be working at a professional standard, having planned meets with the client instead of informal ones which i had, i would also do a contractual brief instead of informal, with the informal there is no set targets you go by word of mouth, less organized if i were to have done a contractual everything would of been in place a lot quicker and the final target is clearer.

Clients Response

I Liked: The use of photos
The Links at top of the page

I liked the policy link, they were displayed on the page well and easy to read & the activity log was laid out well making it clear to the familys/kids when the activitys were.

I like tghe fact you researched the other ervices which the RBWM are part of other than what the inicial site was for.

I would look at sizing of text & fonts used. i would perhaps change the layout of the homepage at top. I would use bigger text size on the 'RBWM' link.

I would perhaps add further signposting links for families to more services and resources.

The site is easy to negociate and use; great use of photos and excellent infomation matches what was asked, which was to make clear to the familys what the club offered, simple easy and gets the point across.

Assignment 2: Be Able to Develop a Planned Response to a Brief

in response to the brief i was given, my media desing company have a questionaire which is sent out to all the clients so that the brief that is given can be further acted on, this questionairre is sent out to all clients all the questions have a broad answering option, some may not be relevant but are likely to be in the grand scheme of responses to briefs, included is my company logo, date, address & contact number.

When the website was first being put together the initial template which was given on iWeb was used but the text colour of the tabs for the page were blue and it was not possible to change so the design had to be changed, originally i was planning to use purple as a colour throughout because of it being the colour that the RBWM use in there logos and on the website.

The template was changed to the only other template which did not have lots of colours which didn't resemble the website i was trying to create, so i used a blank page which used a brown text colour so i matched the colour of the text on the page.

The pages which included a lot of text such as the policy page, to break it up and not make the website boring i included banner breaks which was the logo of the club, the people interlocking hands, i put it in-between every few paragraphs.

After encountering the problem of not being able to upload the website off the iWeb software a free online web template designer which offers a free domain name which would have saved money on the budget was used. this site allowed you to edit the colour of the text and edit the site more freely, oversell i think this created a better and more interactive website than would of been originally produced.

Assignment 3: Be Able to Apply a Response to a Brief

Assignment 1: Understand The Requirements of Working to a Brief

A brief is a assignment set by a company too whoever they have doing a project for them, its a strict set of instructions which the employee has too follow but can make there own twist on it which is what the company wants so they set the basic outline and the employee completes to a deadline, if you do not follow the brief or do not complete your assignment on time you will not get paid or even get considered for use again.

Different Style Of Briefs
  • Contractual Brief  - This Brief style involves signing a binding contract which commits yourself to the company who are giving you the brief and you work for the company for the period of time until the assignment is complete.
  • Negotiated Brief - These types of briefs are not the same as others where the brief is given too you and you work to it, you work with the employers to make the brief better and any problems which could be there can be solved and worked on.
  • Competition Brief - a competion brief is when a few employees or people they have to do briefs and they set these employees the same brief and whoever does the best final product gets the job or money.
  • example of competition brief
  • Commision Brief - A commison brief is when authorisation has to be given, for example a building, equipment or a project etc.
  • Co-Operative Brief - This style of brief is met by more than one employee, usually two people working on the brief to get it done.
  • Formal Brief - When working to a formal brief the work must be done to the most professional standard, suitable for television or a official event.
  • Tender Brief - A tender brief is done in such away which conveys sympathy for the target audience or subject.
  • example of a tender brief
  • Informal Brief - This style of brief is a more relaxed type, unlike a formal brief it is friendly un official approach to completing the brief.

Before the layout of the design was started the content which was the most important thing for the website, to work out what relative information which the viewers of the website need to see, The map to be able to find the location was an application i wanted to add to the website making it viewable from wherever the viewer may be. An activity schedule so that the children know what is available to them and i knew the club sent these out to the families which attend the club.
